Betances offers a full range of Medical/preventative, complementary and social services for an active caseload of over 11,000 patients. Primary & specialty medical services include adult and pediatric care, audiology, cardiology, ophthalmology, podiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, prenatal education and internal medicine. Comprehensive HIV/AIDS care includes non-invasive testing, counseling, confidential medical care, support groups, targeted nutritional support and access to a roster of alternative treatments promoting immune system functioning and treatment success.

Comprehensive Primary Care: Ongoing health maintenance is vital to control and prevention of disease and chronic illness. Includes: Family Medicine, Pediatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, Womens Care and Family Planning.


Gentle Care for New and Expectant Mothers Prenatal Care is provided by a qualified Nurse-Midwife and includes a short-term prenatal education program.

Medicaid and Child Health Plus Entitlement: Through support from the Hispanic Federation, Betances continues to address the health care needs of uninsured families.

Nutrition Enrichment Program: Nutrition counseling and education is a key component of primary care for patients with chronic illnesses. Patients are taught how to make positive dietary changes for improved health. Monthly instructional food preparation classes are available to patients as well as distribution of healthy foods for those affected by conditioned such as Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Obesity and HIV/AIDS.

Health Outreach: Betances works closely with many agencies to facilitate access to care. Through formal contracts or linkage agreements, Betances can provide health services tailored to the needs of clients served by agencies throughout the city. Presentations are available for staff as well as clients, educational workshops are offered to community organization like senior centers and parent associations. Information regarding Medicaid Managed Care is also available; onsite Medicaid and Child Health Plus enrollment is offered to agencies that provide services to families.

HIV testing & counseling: Early detection and intervention can lead to improved quality-of life for individuals living with the virus. Through targeted primary car, our providers work closely with their patients to identify the best treatment options. Complementary therapies may be recommended for possible enhancement of treatment. Social services are an integral part of HIV care.

Behavioral Health and Social Services: Assuring good mental health of vulnerable patents is central to the promotion of overall wellness. Long and Short-term counseling in the areas of crisis intervention, bereavement, substance abuse and HIV are available to individual and families. A harm reduction modality is offered to families affected by HIV substance abuse.
